LANDIKOTAL:
A polio vaccinator was shot dead in the Landikotal town of Khyber Agency late on Saturday night.
According to the tribal area’s political administration, unidentified masked men targeted Haji Akhtar Khan Shinwari in the Khuwja Khel area of Landikotal.
Haji Akhtar, who worked as an Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) technician and union council polio worker, was going home from his clinic when three unidentified men opened fire on him leaving him severely injured, said an official of the political administration.
The local people and political administration rushed Akhtar to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead on arrival, the official said.
The political administration lodged an FIR against unidentified men and started investigations. Akhtar was laid to rest on Sunday at his ancestral graveyard.
