2016 PSL: Lahore slay Peshawar by four runs

Lahore Qalandars beat Peshawar Zalmi by four runs in the fifteenth match of the inaugural Pakistan Super League at Sharjah on late Saturday.

In Peshawar's chase of 165-run target, Dawid Malan top-scored with 42 off 35 in an unsuccessful attempt to guide his team past the finish line. Tamim Iqbal scored 30 off 22 up the order to contribute in the team's final total of 160-7.

Kevon Cooper and man-of-the-match Cameron Delport returned three wickets each for Lahore.

Earlier, Delport (78 off 61) and Umar Akmal (unbeaten 52 off 31) starred for Lahore as they posted a 165-run target for Peshawar.

Peshawar won the toss and opted to bowl first against Lahore who saw Azhar Ali coming back into the team after sitting out yesterday against Karachi Kings.

The Lahore captain scored 25 off 26 balls while his partner Chris Gayle scored a first-ball duck as Junaid Khan dismissed his LBW.

Junaid took two wicket for 32 runs in his four over. Darren Sammy was the only other bowler to get a wicket as he bowled three overs for 20 runs as Lahore scored 164-3 in their 20 overs.

Only a single off a full-toss. Lahore beat the second best team of the tournament. They are making it a habit of slaying the bigger giants of the PSL.

FOUR! Tamim goes midwicket this time. No fielder there and the ball was bowled right into the slot for hitting.

OUT! Brilliant catch by Azhar Ali to dismiss Hafeez. A stunner; he runs from wide mid off and take it while diving backwards. Holds onto it and stands and celebrates. Important wicket for Lahore, the in-form Hafeez is gone. Kamran Akmal walks in now.

SIX! Tamim wins this war with a one-legged pull over square leg. It was short and a tad leggish by Ehsan.

A little skirmish between the Tamim and Ehsan. Tamim dabbed it back to the bowler and Ehsan picked it up and took a shy at the stumps. Tamim was angry with the throw while Ehsan was all in for the stare game.

Azhar Ali: Yes there is pressure, but we will try to give our best. No matter if we bat first or second, Gayle can play a match-winning inning. Boys are upbeat for this match. We have two changes. Hammad Azam and Naveed Yasir are not playing, me and Adnan Rasool are replacing them.

Shahid Afridi: We will bowl first. There is a dew factor as well and we will try to get the opposition out as soon as possible. We will try to stay in the first two position of the table. James Allenby not feeling well, Malan in for him.
