American comedian and actor Larry David left his audience in splits as he recalled his account from being a "poor schmuck" to a "rich prick".

The Curb Your Enthusiasm star revealed the reason why he wanted big bucks and the perks that come with being rich in his Saturday Night Live monologue on February 6.

With his usual self-deprecating humour, David asked the audience not to clap so much, as he is bound to disappoint. He revealed that he auditioned for Saturday Night Live in his early days. "You know, I auditioned for this show many many years ago, and I was terrible. Those were the days when I was just a poor schmuck, as opposed to now. Now, I'm a rich prick," he said.

He further went on to point out the oddity of associating 'poor' with 'schmuck' and 'rich' with 'prick.'

"Have you noticed how the word 'prick' invariably follows the word 'rich.' If you're rich, you have to be a prick. Same way the word 'schmuck' always follows the word 'poor.' If you're poor, you're a schmuck. Why else would you be poor? So I went from a poor schmuck to a rich prick without hardly any transition," said David.

So here are some perks of being a 'rich prick' as experienced by David himself:

You get new friends, all pricks!

"I'm not that much happier as a prick than a schmuck. I could be a schmuck again. I never thought I'd become a prick. Neither did my friends. They said, 'He'll never be a prick' and then boom! One day I'm a prick. Now I have all new friends; all pricks," quipped David.

You get a valid reason to date anyone

"Every time I'm dating, my friends always say to me: 'Aren't you concerned that she's only going out with you because you have some money and you're on TV?'"

Above all, you don't care!

You rise beyond the need to impress anyone as being rich automatically makes you likable.

"Why else would she go out with me?! Of course that's why she's going out with me. That's one of the benefits! That's why I did this in the first place. What do you think, she has a penchant for old bald men?," said David.

"She's supposed to like me for myself? I don't even like me for myself. I'm not a good person. I commit six of the seven deadly sins on a daily basis," he added.

What else do you need? Being rich makes your life easier as it entitles you to be socially lovable and respectable without even doing anything.

David hosted the February 6 episode of SNL and has appeared multiple times this season as presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
