Mind matters not in Pakistan

Letter February 09, 2016
It is a painful reality that mindless and visionless people rule the roost in this country

ISLAMABAD: “The mind is everything. What you think you become,” says Buddha. It is a painful reality that mindless and visionless people rule the roost in this country and those who are bright and upright are not given proper opportunities to tap into their talents.

Ours is not a just society where everyone can be whatever they choose to be if they work hard enough. Ours is a society where one needs a powerful person’s backing to succeed. How painful it is that even in our training institutes and academies at the federal and provincial level, visionless people who are not determined, nor creative are appointed as faculty members to impart training? In our country, those in positions of authority appear to be allergic to appointing young and creative people in their organisations, but readily welcome those least deserving for such appointments. One can determine the type of education imparted to those manning our public-sector organisations from the quality of service delivery.
