Turbat is the second largest city of Balochistan but has been suffering due to electricity shortage for decades

KECH: Turbat is the second largest city of Balochistan and it has been suffering due to electricity shortage for decades. The residents of Turbat have never experienced progress the way they should have because of this constraint. They already face problems like unemployment, illiteracy and lack of economic opportunities and the energy crisis in the area has only exacerbated their problems. Hydroelectricity is a viable form of renewable energy which is generated by installing turbines in areas where water is available abundantly. It is true that Turbat has a very large dam, namely the Mehrani Dam; reportedly, it can generate enough electricity to cater to the population of Turbat, which is currently getting 35 megawatts of electricity from Iran.

Just a little work on improving the operations of the dam by the government may end our electricity woes. The authorities are requested to do the needful.
