Quetta Gladiators beat Peshawar Zalmi by three wickets in the seventh match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The match ended on the second last ball of the second innings as Anwar Ali edges one past the keeper and first slip when Quetta needed one run off two balls. The Gladiators also became the first team to bag three wins on the trot in the inaugural PSL.

Kevin Pietersen played an instrumental knock of 35 runs to guide his team home while chasing a 136-run target. Sarfraz Ahmed was the second best batsman with 21 off 24 balls.

Shahid Afridi and Wahab Riaz bagged two wicket each for Peshawar.

Earlier, Peshawar managed 135-7 against Quetta after they were sent in to bat first.

Peshawar had lost five wickets for a score of 59 runs when Darren Sammy came in and scored 48 off 31 balls with the help of four maximums and one boundary. He was supported by a 25-ball 21-run innings by Shahid Yousuf.

For Quetta, left-arm spinner Muhammad Nawaz was once again the pick of the bowlers. In his four over, he accounted for three Peshawar batsmen, giving away only 29 runs.

Post-match presentation

Most colorful innings award goes to Darren Sammy.

Muhammad Nawaz is the man of the match for his three wickets from four overs: "I am trying to execute basics. I try to bowl according to the situation. I hope to perform with the bat as well."

Shahid Afridi: "I congratulate Quetta for the win. The match was very competitive. We need more spinners, but the combination at the moment is great. Win and loss aside, matches should be entertaining."

Sarfraz Ahmed: "When two good teams are playing such a nail-biter is expected. Chigumbura was a surprise selection and he brought us back at the end. We selected the team which had been playing for four-five years. I am trying to calm down but you tend to get hyper when the whole team is looking up to you."

Abdul | 8 years ago | Reply @Sid Why do the Indian trolls care? We are happy the PSL took off despite the naysayers. Why do you have to show everyone your never-ending obsession with Pakistan? It's mind boggling how you guys live with so much hate and jealousy inside!
babloo | 8 years ago | Reply Whats happening here! First of all, Why aren't the pitches flat? People come to watch fours and sixes and not great spin bowling and totals of around 110-120! This is entertainment , if you want quality cricket, we have the Ashes, Chappel-Hadlee Series and so on..Very poor organisation, why would people come to watch if there is no entertainment? The only saving grace is Boom Boom and Gayle, and due to horrible pitches, they are not being able to provide good entertainment. And with no broadcast in India, its a huge loss of TRP's. Lets see what happens ahead. Make flat pitches please and let these guys entertain with scores like 180-200
