Electricity woes

Letter February 06, 2016
Hyderabad is suffering daily breakdowns caused either by burnt down transformers, poor repair work or overloading

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad is the second largest city of Sindh but it faces a plethora of problems with electricity shortages being a major one. Not only are increased power outages making matters worse for citizens, the huge number of complaints lodged by consumers are constantly ignored. Hyderabad is suffering daily breakdowns caused either by burnt down transformers, poor quality repair work, overloading, tripping of electric wire systems and snapped cables, among others.

Qasimabad, a locality of the city, has become the victim of extreme electricity variations. Constant voltage fluctuations and the electricity conking out every 15 minutes are damaging expensive electrical gadgets like refrigerators, TV sets, microwaves and computers. Instead of these issues being speedily resolved, they have only exacerbated within the last month. I urge the government to pay heed to this exasperating concern and normalise the power supply in Hyderabad as soon as possible.
