Violation: Hotel fined for unlawful liquor sale

The hotel management was found not checking these permits before selling the customers liquor

ISLAMABAD: A premier hotel in Islamabad was raided and fined for selling alcohol to Muslims and non-Muslims without checking their consumption permits, among other violations. The raid was conducted by Assistant Commissioner Secretariat Capt (retd) Waqas Rashid on Monday. The Best Western Hotel was serving alcohol to customers in violation of the Prohibition Order, 1979, which declares the selling and purchasing of alcohol illegal for Muslims. Non-Muslims and foreigners require the consumption permit, issued by Excise and Taxation Department. The hotel management was found not checking these permits before selling the customers liquor.
