MARDAN:

Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Farhatullah Babar asked the federal government for a judicial enquiry into the terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University.

He was talking to the media at the residence of PPP K-P President Khanzada Khan on Saturday. The former spokesperson of the president said a judicial enquiry will bring the reality of the massacre to the people. He strongly criticised the Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and claimed he had completely failed in his duty. “Banned outfits have resurfaced and continue their work with different names,” said a leader of the party.

Babar lashed out at the federal government and said, “Not even a single meeting of the National Counter Terrorism Authority’s board of governors was held for the last year,” Babar said. Nacta is a coordinating agency of the federal government and is an amalgamation of the police, army, intelligence agencies, FIA and other agencies.

Talking about the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, Babar said it was the most important project for the country. However, the federal planning commission has made it controversial, he said. The senator added Rs20 billion was set aside for the western route and Rs80 for the eastern in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). He added this has caused much scepticism among the provinces. He asked the federal government to immediately start work on the Pakistan-Iran Gas Pipeline as the international community has lifted sanctions on Iran.
