KARACHI:

Law enforcement agencies besieged Pehlwan Goth and carried out a door-to-door search in the area on Thursday. More than 12 people were arrested and weapons and ammunition seized by the police.

The decision to carry out an operation was taken due to the worsening law and order situation in the area. Incidents of firing and target killing have been taking place in the area.

DIG East Commander Shaukat headed a police team of 300 commandos and Rangers that carried out the six-hour-long operation.

The suspects arrested included relatives of men nominated in several criminal cases but none of the accused were found. They were taken to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

According to the police, unidentified men fired at them when they entered the area. They blocked all entry and exit points to the area. Shops and businesses closed down while all residents stayed inside their houses.

MA | 13 years ago | Reply They just killed some people in a blue cultus right in front of rabia city about 40 mins ago... What ammunition have they managed to take away? The worst part is: the people who were openly shooting in broad daylight had more than 30 minutes to escape inside rabia city before the police finally came in.
Saeed | 13 years ago | Reply O Lord, please save us from the evident destruction... how bloody our disputes have become, how intolerant we have become with no tolerance and room for our fellow Pakistanis in our hearts. We must not get ourselves involved in bloody fights over petty issues but we must have tolerance towards each other as we are not Pathans or Muhajirs but we are Pakistanis and people belonging to both the ethnic backgrounds are essential for the development of this city... the sooner we realize this the better it will be for us.
