Katrina Kaif, who will be seen playing Tabu’s daughter in the upcoming film Fitoor, revealed that the toughest thing for her was to pretend that Tabu is her mother, reported IANS. “The hardest thing in this film was pretending that Tabu is my mother. She does not look like my mother from any angle … she is like a friend. I enjoyed the days we spent together in the film,” she said.

“She is one of the warmest and most down-to-earth people. She is a phenomenal actor so whenever you are in front of her, you should remember not to get lost in her performance, but contribute to it. We have been so fortunate that she was gracious enough to step in,” added Katrina. Tabu stepped into Rekha’s shoes after the latter decided to exit from the film, which is an Indian adaptation of Charles Dickens classic novel Great Expectations. Speaking about Tabu’s role in Fitoor, Katrina shared, “For me, the most important thing was to try and understand this girl’s [her character’s] mind. Is she manipulative … is she like that? And for whatever reason, she has always been a complicated character. Tabu and I spent a lot of time discussing and trying to give life to this character.”

Aditya’s Kashmiri connection in ‘Fitoor’

The first trailer of the film, which was recently released, features Aditya Roy Kapur, Katrina and Tabu in lead roles, according to a press release. With the sizzling chemistry between Katrina and Aditya having already created a buzz, ‘great expectations’ have already been placed on the movie.

Fitoor is the story of a budding artist, Noor (Aditya), who falls in love with Firdaus (Katrina). But there’s a catch in the story in the form of Begum Hazrat (Tabu). The background music by Amit Trivedi makes the trailer even more appealing. Also starring Aditi Rao Hydari, Lara Dutta and Rahul Bhatt, Fitoor will hit theatres on February 12.
