NA recommends December 16 should be observed as Pakistan Children's Day in memory of the deceased

The National Assembly on Wednesday passed a unanimous resolution expressing profound grief and sadness over the killing of 122 children and 22 staff members of the Army Public School in Peshawar on December 16 last year.

The resolution was moved by Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid, Radio Pakistan reported.



The House strongly condemned the barbaric atrocity, terming it a crime against humanity, while further recommending that December 16 should be observed as Pakistan Children's Day in memory of the deceased.

"Prayers for the dead and peace and prosperity of the country should be offered every year in all educational institutions across the country," the House recommended.

Further, the resolution noted that military action against terrorists in the form of operation Zarb-e-Azb launched by Pakistan Army proved to be successful.

For Peshawar

"The tragedy has further strengthened the firm resolve of the people of Pakistan to fight, destroy and eliminate perpetrators," it said.
