LAHORE: “They came first for the Communists, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up.”
These simple words of Martin Niemoller, a German pastor and theologian, about Nazi Germany illustrate the value to society of people like the late and much lamented Salmaan Taseer. He was not prepared to remain silent, no matter what the risks. May his death be a wake-up call to all Pakistanis.

The PPP and the ANP need to fight back
It is a great pity that so many atrocities are being committed in Pakistan in the name of Islam, and our religious leaders instead of condemning these heionous acts, are instead condoning them.
God has commanded us in surah al imran not to form sects yet there are more sects in Pakistan than any other Islamic country.
God has also commanded that we should leave judgement to him.He has also told us not to commit murder, none of these commands of Allah are being followed in Pakistan, what is worse, our religious leaders instead of condemning these acts, are actually condoning them.
Where are these religious leaders voices when bombs are thrown into mosques killing muslims at prayer. All this and many other heinous acts are committed in the name of Islam, and no mullah condemns then, What kind of Islam is this?
Don’t our so called muslims fear the wrath of Allah?Recommend
