FILM: The Invitation
It may seem that you are about to enter a dark and twisted world, but then you realise, it is just dark, as in difficult to see. The jerky visual effects remind you of the horror mood of films in the 70s or 80s. Despite Nathalie Emmanuel’s natural performance and appealing presence, the film does not connect at the level it should have, even though it had the potential. If you survive the first hour which is predictable and slow, the film packs some redeemable twists in the end.
