The second-generation Huawei's flagship TWS buds are on the verge of being released. The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 is slated to be released this month and will most likely be priced similarly to the original FreeBuds Pro.

The transition to dual drivers, with one driver handling the bass and the other the mids and highs, will provide a frequency response range of 14Hz to 48,000Hz in the second-generation buds.

Huawei has teamed up with Devialet, a French audio technology company, to fine-tune the audio. Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification will be included with the buds, ensuring high-quality sound through Bluetooth. There's also a Triple Adaptive Equalizer, which gives you even more control over the sound.

Active noise cancellation (ANC) will reduce noise by 47dB on these buds, which is a significant upgrade. In comparison, the original FreeBuds Pro claimed to cancel up to 40 decibels. The second-generation buds will use three microphones and AI algorithms to accomplish this.

The new design is less efficient in battery life, offering up to 6.5 hours of playing with ANC turned off, down from 8 hours previously. However, the charging case will make up the difference, resulting in a total listening time of 30 hours.

The new buds get rudimentary water resistance with an IP54 rating, which means they'll withstand splashes but won't withstand immersion. That's still better than the original Pro buds in terms of durability.
