Vivo Y01 Review

Another addition to Vivo's low budget phone's list
Vivo Y01 Review

Vivo has launched a budget smartphone in Pakistan. Vivo Y01 has been released at PKR 18,999 in Pakistani market. Recently the company launched Vivo Y21 which was not worth the money because of its specs. Vivo’s smartphones are made in Pakistan but still cost higher than the specs, so it would be important to assess this model.

Design and Display

Nothing much is going on in the design, it looks similar to Tecno Spark but is rather glossier and shinier. The phone is available in Sapphire Blue and Elegant Black. A single camera module is present on the top left and the branding is done on the bottom left. Vivo Y01 has a plastic back given with simple design.

A 6.61-inch HD IPS LCD display is given which will support 720p resolution. The screen to body ratio is 89.0%. The water-drop notch is present in the display. The display is justified since this is a low budget phone launched under PKR 20,000 but anything above that wouldn’t have justified the price.  The good thing about its display is that it will support a 60Hz refresh rate.

Camera

The camera module holds a single 13-megapixel camera along with LED flash light. The sole camera will record a 1080p video at 30FPS. The expectations from camera are quite low as we all know 13MP cameras are not worth the hype.

The front notch holds a camera of 5MP which is relatively disappointing. Vivo should have given an 8MP camera, however the front camera will record a 720p video at 30FPS.

Storage & RAM

On the software side, Y01 comes with an Android 11 OS and the Android’s skin will be FuntouchOS 11.1 which is the latest UI from Vivo. The chipset used in this phone is the old MediaTek Helio and the performance of this SoC is very normal, nothing much should be expected. This is a single variant model with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage along with dual-SIM slot and microSD card slot.

Battery

When it comes to battery, you will see a micro 2.0 USB type with a massive 5000mAh battery with a normal 10W charging system. The battery can last more than a day on full charge which is a plus point for the phone. The charging will take approximately 3 to 4 hours’ time to charge phone from 0 to 100%.

The battery power is actually a lot higher than what we generally see even in mid to high range phones. It is actually one of the best features in any handset for users wish to have the maximum usage hours.

Pros and Cons

The only pro here will be the price and battery, this is a low budget phone with very average features however the price does justify the specs in this model and users should not expect something extraordinary.

However, the drawback is that there is no fingerprint reader available in this model. This phone is not recommended to someone who likes efficient user experience. It is ideal for a user who would not be bothered with the less storage or RAM along with the basic specs.
