Realme Narzo 50i Review

Price & Colours:

The new Narzo 50i, an entry-level low priced smartphone, is introduced at a price tag of Rs 20,999. The phone comes in two colors, the Mint Green, a flashy and a cool-looking color, and Carbon Black, the more elegant-looking one.

Camera:

Talking about the camera components of the phone, on the front is a 5MP wide camera while on the back is a single 8MP wide camera having added feature of Auto Focus. Although the back camera pad did say AI Camera, the features of the 8MP camera are not up-to-the-mark, having pretty basic functionality of HDR, Portrait Mode, and Panorama Mode. The 5MP front camera is not very high-tech, although it does have an added feature of Face Detection which helps in taking good quality pictures.

RAM & Storage:

Moving to memory storage, the phone comes in 2 variants. One is a 2GB RAM version that has just 32GB built-in internal storage, while the other is the 4GB RAM version having an internal storage of 64GB. While RAM cannot be expanded, internal storage can be increased with just a simple installation of an SD Card having memory up to 256GB.

Display:

The screen on the new Narzo 50i is a big 6.5 inches incorporating an IPS LCD Display. The smartphone consists of a 720x1600 pixels resolution which gives a great boost to the quality of the display. The display is very engaging, containing natural colors, and the contrast level was also good compared to phones of this range. The brightness level can go up to 400 nits, which is pretty good even under direct sunlight.

Battery:

Although the phone is not thick by itself, the new Narzo 50i comes with a big battery of 5000 mAh. According to the tests conducted, the phone has a long battery life of close to 2 days. This can be a reason because of the fact that since heavy applications do not perform on the phone, only smaller applications were installed and tested. Although the phone doesn’t support the fast charging technology, it comes with a 10W power brick which takes a relatively longer time of around 3 hours, to charge the phone from 0% to 100%.

Processor/Chipset:

Although Realme tried to hide their processor stating it as Octa-Core, it was not long until it was revealed that the phone was running on Unisoc SC9830A processor, a 1.6GHz octa-core processor, that is, to be honest, not a good processor, contributing largely to the reason it was kept hidden this entire time. The phone runs a PowerVR GE8322 as its GPU.

Extra Features:

Heading towards the phone itself, on the back side, the phone has a single camera system accompanied by an LED flash. Although the back is made of a plastic frame, it doesn’t undermine the sleek design having a smooth patch on the upper side while coming down; it gives a very engaging carbon-fiber/ forged feeling.

Proceeding to the sides, on the bottom is the Micro-USB charging port, dual microphone system, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Although the Micro-USB port is an extinct feature in today’s newly launched devices, it is still usable since there is a micro-USB cable somewhere in everyone’s house.

On the right side is the combination of volume buttons and the power trigger, while on the other side, there is a single sim tray jack that can hold up to 2 sims and also has a slot for putting extendable SD Card. Although the phone is said to be splash-resistant, the sim tray didn’t have any rubber layering to protect sims against water.
