Price & Colors

Recently, Oppo has launched new phone in Pakistan with the name of Oppo A16k with the price of PKR 21,999 and it is a unique and interesting device released by Oppo. Let’s see that does this unique and stylish look really justify what is inside or is it just another model by Oppo and does this phone really justify its price tag?

Firstly, let’s talk about the unboxing experience. The box contains a SIM tray injector tool at the very beginning along with a phone cover and user guides. The box also contains a charger brick and a microUSB cable, no type-C cable is available for this device. It is available in two colors that are Black and Blue.

These colors are pretty basic when it comes to options and Oppo has not really launched a new color for this model, however these are the safe colors as mostly users prefer these basic colors.

Design and Display

The phone has a shiny and glossy finish at the rear end. At the bottom, it has a headphone jack with charging port and speaker. Whereas, on the left side it has SIM card try which can supports two SIMs and a microSD card.

When it comes to the display panel, Oppo A16k does not seem up to the standard considering what the competitors are producing. Comparing other brands in this price range, Infinix and Tecno are providing a 1080p resolution screen combined with 90Hz screen refresh rate. Tecno Spark 8 pro priced at PKR 22,999, gives a 1080p resolution screen with NEG protection and 500 nits brightness whereas Oppo A16K only gives a 720p resolution display along with 60Hz screen refresh rate.

This is the first big drawback that Oppo A16K has faced. However, the good thing is that Gorilla Glass 3 protection is available in this phone along with 480 nits brightness.

Camera

The back camera is 13MP wide and while testing the camera it can be said for certain that the camera quality is better than any other 13MP camera phone. The details are sharp and pictures are clear. The front camera includes a 5MP sensor which as usual is not up to the standard at all. The pictures seem grainy and pixelated. Oppo A16K can record a 1080p video at 30FPS; no 60FPS is available in this phone.

On the back of this phone, a big camera module is present which gives the deception of having more than two cameras but the reality is that this phone only contains a single camera. The other two “camera holes” are AI logo and LED flash light. Oppo should have added another camera at the back, could be a depth or macro because a single back camera does not justify the price of this phone.

RAM/Storage/Processor

This phone has Helio G35 processor integrated at the back. Now, this processor is majorly found in low budget phones that cost around PKR 17,000-19,999 but Oppo decided to include this processor in a 23,000 rupees phone. Another thing about A16K is that it includes a 4GB of RAM, which is completely fine but only has 64GB of flash memory. At this price range 128GB of flash memory should’ve been considered by Oppo.

Battery

Under the back hood, Oppo A16K possesses a 4230mAh battery that comes with a 10W charging brick and a microUSB cable. So, no fast charging is available however the battery power is pretty decent and users can expect long lasting usage hours.

Pros and Cons

The second biggest drawback that this phone has is the unavailability of fingerprint scanner which is quite shocking as almost every phone in this price range comes with fingerprint scanner. The only security option is Face Unlock.

Lacking the fingerprint scanner can restrict the purchase of this phone because it is the convenience that is taken into account and users might be reluctant to use the face lock every time as the world has evolved during covid-19 and face masks make it a hassle to unlock the phone like that hence fingerprint is more convenient for any phone in this day and age.

Finally, if you ask us then this phone has quite a few drawbacks and we think there are better options available in this price range that do not lack the specs unavailable in this phone by Oppo, A16K.

For example, we talked about Tecno Spark 8 Pro, which comes with many feature and specs. If we talk about the day-to-day usage of this phone then it is quite slow and switching between apps is really time consuming. So in the price range of PKR 23,000 this phone does not justify its worth and lack so many important features that are common in 2022.
