Price & Color:
OnePlus, an emerging mobile brand, launched its flagship phone in the form of OnePlus 9 Pro. A 5G-enabled Dual Sim phone running on the latest Android version 11 known as OxygenOS 11. The phone came out in three unique two-tone colors called Morning Mist, Forest Green and Stellar Black priced at Rs. 160,999 in Pakistan.
Camera:
One the flip side, the phone has a setup of cameras which includes four cameras. The camera setup consists of a 48MP wide angle camera, 8 MP telephoto camera, 50 MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP monochrome camera. Apart from that, there is an option of Dual LED Flash as well.
The phone contains an in-screen fingerprint sensor on the front screen. Another feature of the phone is that it is IP68 dust/water resistant.
RAM & Storage:
The phone has 8GB RAM which was extendable to 12GB on a price, and had options of 128GB and 256GB for internal storage. The phone incorporates an extremely rigid and powerful Gorilla Glass 7 on both, the front and the back sides.
Moving towards internal storage, the phone only has options of 128GB and 256GB with no support for a removable SD card. This is a major drawback in today’s world where there is a lot of data and since there is still some reluctance within users in using online cloud services, they trust their phones. With other models moving towards an internal storage of 1 TB, the smaller storage size means less data capturing, and more removing. Hence the small storage size is a big drawback of this mode.
Display:
The phone comes with a large 6.7-inch display, which has currently become a standard for nearly all the high-end phones in the market. Talking about the screen specifications, the phone has a Super AMOLED Capacitive Touchscreen with a resolution of a staggering 1440 x 3216 Pixels. This ensures that there are more pixels in a given space and hence the pictures displayed are of good, if not excellent quality.
Battery:
The big battery size of 4710 mAh gives a long-lasting effect to the user of this phone. It also supports the new technology of 30W fast charging, which has a claim that it can charge the phone in under an hour. Although this battery size is not less, but the market is evolving and you can see even larger battery sizes in phones that are a fraction of the 9 Pro’s tag price. The phone does come with a 30W fast charging feature that ensures that the user can charge their smartphone in less time.
Processor/Chipset:
OnePlus 9 PRO, at the time of release, was expected to be a perfect rival of big companies like Samsung, which has got models such as S21 and S30 that lie in the same price bracket. The phone runs on Qualcomm’s recent chip known as Snapdragon 888. OnePlus phones have always been generous in giving power to their phones, hence the reason that the flagship phone contains a 2.84 GHz Octa Core processor.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip is embedded in this phone. This is considered the world’s top ranked chip regarding mobile phones. The major drawback it has brought is the fact that the chip gets pretty heated whenever it is used to its maximum potential. In today’s world of mobile gaming, there are a lot of users who play heavy duty games. These games cause the chip to heat up and in turn, there have been several reports and personal experience of people getting annoyed by this dangerous element.
Extra Features:
A phone containing all these features was expected to give tough times to big giants like Samsung, but, in the voice of Phonebuff, one of the biggest technology review channel, presenter’s voice, “What exactly happened?”
The phone which was expected to beat the great giants of this industry. The phone which had the support of the world’s first camera producer itself, Hasselblad. The most expensive phone of the franchise.
Since its release, the phone has faced backlash on various components that seek improvement to this day. The current Android version of OxygenOS is one of the biggest contributors to OnePlus 9 Pro’s decline, majorly because of the fact that this android version is itself the worst reviewed android version. The amount of bugs in this version is incomparable, which makes it anything but stable. The most annoying bug is the disappearance of Music Player, even if the music is being played.
The phone does come with an amazing set of speakers; the 3.5mm headphone is missing, which is a disadvantage for users who use handsfree/ headphones.
Although OnePlus has partnered with Hasselblad, the first company to send their camera to Moon, when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took the historic trip, to overcome the company’s camera issues with its phones. While these were all the disadvantages that require improvement which has to come sooner than later. There are various advantages of this phone as well.
The phone has the latest 5G- connectivity which ensures the user to transfer data at greater speeds more efficiently. The phone also has a dual-sim option which has somewhat become a standard in today’s world.
Another special component of the OnePlus 9 Pro is the fact that it has Gorilla Glass 7 protecting its front and back. This is the best and the hardest-to-break protector on the market. Along with this, the phone has been certified as an IP68 Dust and Water-resistant phone and can survive up to 1.5 meters depth and 30 minutes underwater.
