The race to develop the fastest charging technology for cell phones is as fierce as ever. Realme GT Neo 3 is now the world's fastest charging phone, capable of charging at a whopping 150W. In barely 5 minutes, it charges to 50% capacity.
Vivo, on the other hand, could soon dethrone Realme as the leader in rapid charging, as the company is reported to be working on a 200W charger. This charger was just certified in China, and according to Digital Chat Station, it will be released alongside the iQOO 10 Pro smartphone. By the end of 2022, the phone should be available.
The enormous 200W charging brick will be capable of delivering 20V at 10A and 20V at 3.25A, which converts to 65W for wireless chargers. The current iQOO 9 Pro has a 120W wired charging capacity and a 50W wireless charging capacity.
It's worth noting that the 200W fast charging speed isn't really ground-breaking. Several companies, including Xiaomi and Oppo, have shown off the technology in public demonstrations, but it has yet to be seen on a commercially available smartphone.
As things stand, Vivo may be the first to market, but its competitors aren't going to take it lying down and we may expect several developments by these companies.
