Ever heard of a phone with under-display camera? Realme might be making it possible in the upcoming releases. On Weibo, Realme Vice President Xu Qi Chase showcased the feature with a full-screen phone with no punch-holes, notches or even a pop-up selfie camera, can’t ignore the rumors about Realme's first under-display (UD) camera phone.
It might confirm previous claims from an OEM executive, Xu Qi Chase, that the brand would prefer to use this style of selfie camera for a truly edge-to-edge screen instead of pop-up selfie cameras. In September, Realme VP Xu Qi Chase posted an image on Weibo of a smartphone with no notch or punch hole, raising doubts about the comeback of the pop-up selfie camera.
However, Chase pointed out in the comments section of the post that the device lacks a pop-up mechanism, hinting that it uses under-display camera technology. According to Reports, Realme is presently working on its first smartphone featuring an under-display camera. Realme will join Samsung as one of the few smartphone makers to provide an under-display camera.
As a conclusion, we now have a freshly revealed Realme design patent showing a smartphone with no visible selfie cameras. A few wireframe diagrams from a recent patent filing are shown in the article. The device does not appear to have any spots for a selfie camera in the diagrams.
While the patent filing does not ensure that the design shown will become an actual product, it does suggest that Realme is working on it considering the fact that the camera configuration appears to be identical to that of a standard Realme phone. It's a vertical triple camera configuration with an edge LED flash.
Although, we don't know the exact specifications, a few additional interesting details can be seen here. There are also some antenna lines carved out at the top and bottom, implying a metal frame. Moreover, the display, like the back panel, features curved edges. All of these characteristics indicate a high-end phone; thus, we can at least expect that a Realme phone with a UD camera will be released soon.
This implies that instead of a front-facing camera, the smartphone features an under-display camera. As a result, these diagrams might provide information about Realme's first-generation smartphone. It might, for example, suggest that it is intended to fall into the premium or premium mid-range categories: the inclusion of a USB type-C port but no 3.5mm connector is sometimes a revealing indication in this regard.
Realme China President Xu Qi indicated at the China Mobile Global Partner Conference 2021 that the smartphone will be available next year. The company is rumoured to be working on a 'real' flagship smartphone that will cost around 4500-5100 Yuan (approximately Rs 130,000) while It's uncertain if the company's next flagship smartphone will be part of the existing GT range or a new one.
Aside from Realme, a few of other Chinese smartphone manufacturers, including Oppo, Honor, and Vivo, are working on under-display selfie camera technology. Hopefully, this implies that a Realme phone with an under-display camera is getting closer to a release date.
