Since last year, WhatsApp has been working on additional privacy features. It has been in the beta phase for a while, but now all users worldwide using iPhone and Android smartphones will be able to hide their profile photo, last seen, and about information from specific people.
WhatsApp's official social media pages posted the announcement:
Until recently, WhatsApp offered four privacy settings: everyone, just your contacts, just your contacts except for a select few people, or no one. Additionally, Status privacy was possible with this. However, the new feature now allows you to restrict access to certain individuals in your contact list and hide your last seen, profile photo, and about information from them.
It's important to note that, similar to read receipts (blue ticks), if you hide your own last seen, you will not be able to see anyone else’s. The latter, however, continues to function in group conversations.
On iPhones and Android devices, the privacy setting may be found under Settings > Account > Privacy.
In addition, the new version of WhatsApp now includes the ability to mute particular callers in a group setting. Through the call, you can also send individual people direct messages.
