Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez attributes his departure from the PCB after just two months to the appointment of a new chairman. 

Despite his initial enthusiasm for the role of Director Cricket, Hafeez expressed disappointment that his originally designated four-year tenure was cut short due to the change in leadership. 

“I always prioritise and represented Pakistan with dignity and Pride. I accepted the new role as a Director PCB with great passion to make positive reforms but Unfortunately my designated tenure which was offered by PCB for 4 years was cut short for 2 months on the account of New chairmanship. Best wishes for Pakistan cricket future,” Hafeez wrote on social media platform X.

Hafeez pledged to disclose both cricketing and non-cricketing details that may have contributed to subpar performances during his brief tenure.

“As always, I foremost take responsibility and put myself accountable for all my executions in my given time and will accordingly reveal all the cricketing and other amateur non cricketing facts which ensue bad performances,” he added.

In an official statement on Thursday, the PCB expressed sincere appreciation for Hafeez's invaluable contributions, acknowledging his role as Director and his positive impact on players.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board extends heartfelt gratitude to Mohammad Hafeez, Director Pakistan men’s cricket team, for his invaluable contributions,” the statement read.

Despite the separation, the PCB conveyed its best wishes to Hafeez for his future endeavors, expressing hopes for continued success and luck in his pursuits.

“Hafeez's passion for the game has inspired players and his mentorship during the tour of Australia and New Zealand have been of immense importance. The PCB wishes Hafeez good luck and success in his future endeavours,” the statement added.

Hafeez, a former Test captain, boasts an impressive cricket career, having represented Pakistan in 55 Tests, 218 ODIs, and 119 T20Is. Throughout his international career, Hafeez has amassed 12,780 runs and secured 253 wickets, leaving a lasting impact on the cricketing landscape.
