Pakistan faced a stunning upset defeat at the hands of Afghanistan by eight wickets in their recent 2023 World Cup clash on Monday in Chennai.

This unexpected defeat has prompted former Indian cricketer, Virender Sehwag and former England cricketer, Michael Vaughan, to mock the Men in Green on social media platform 'X'.

Sehwag couldn't resist taking a jibe at Pakistan's performance.

"Pakistan is an unpredictable side, but the way they have been making lame excuses for their earlier defeats, this was certainly on the cards. Just did not focus on their many weaknesses. What a proud day for Afghanistan, came close many times but today crossed the line," Sehwag wrote on 'X'.

Not to be outdone, Vaughan also joined in to tease Pakistan after their consecutive losses, first against Australia in Bengaluru and then once again to Afghanistan in Chennai.

"I presume 'Dil Dil' Pakistan wasn't played in Chennai today," Vaughan wrote on X.

Former Indian pacer, Irfan Pathan, also shared his thoughts on social media, offering his praise for Afghanistan's outstanding performance.

"Clearly a better team won today. Well done Afghanistan for stunning victory against pakistan," Irfan wrote on X.

It is worth noting that the Men in Green suffered defeat against Afghanistan for the first time in ODI cricket.

Pakistan scored 282 runs while losing seven wickets during their first innings. In response, the Afghan team successfully chased down the target with just one over remaining.
