Having led Pakistan to numerous victories and delivering convincing performances, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee, Zaka Ashraf, showed immense trust in the former captain of Pakistan's cricket team, Misbah-ul-Haq's selfless leadership skills and passion for Pakistan cricket.

In an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, the PCB chair said that Misbah's influence as a leader cannot be understated. He believes that Misbah's insightful and strategic approach can greatly benefit Pakistan cricket's future.

"Misbah-ul-Haq has etched his name in Pakistan cricket. He is very technical-minded and equally intelligent. Moreover, he has gotten Pakistan numerous wins and led the team with convincing performances. He also shares mutual understanding with the players and is well-respected amongst them. In my opinion, such an individual should come forward who can handle cricketing affairs here and represent Pakistan in ICC meetings as well,” Ashraf said.

“I trust his leadership capacity on the cricket committee. He was working till 11:30 at night the other day. He involved many renowned cricketers in the meeting, and for the ones who couldn't attend in person, he took them on Zoom. In short, he is responsibly performing his duty," he added.

Ashraf reinstated that perhaps the most extraordinary aspect of Misbah's appointment is his refusal to accept any salary or remuneration for his services. Despite being offered generous amounts, he humbly declined, expressing his desire to give back to a country and sport that has given him so much.

"Most importantly, he is not willing to take any salary or remuneration for that matter. I have offered him countless times that we can pay him whatever amount he wants, but he refused, saying that as he's gained so much by representing Pakistan, it'll be an honor for him to serve it back. I really appreciate his passion, and I am certain he'll give us an effective plan and roadmap," he further added.

Misbah's appointment as advisor and head of cricket committee is an honorary role, meaning that he will not be receiving any remuneration for his services. Despite being offered a full-time position within the board, Misbah declined the offer due to his prior commitments.

Instead, Misbah has chosen to support the chairman by offering his invaluable experience and insights, particularly concerning domestic cricket.
