New Zealand players allowed to choose between IPL and Pakistan tour

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) CEO David White has said that the Blackcaps' players will be allowed to choose whether they want to play Indian Premier League (IPL) or tour Pakistan.

As per David. A full-strength side will likely tour Pakistan for the first leg of the tour scheduled in December 2022 and January 2023. Two Tests, part of the ICC Test Championship, and three World Cup Super League matches are part of the tour.

In the second phase of the tour, New Zealand will again tour Pakistan to play five T20Is and as many ODIs in April/May 2023. This tour will clash with lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL).

"As of our understanding, our full-strength side will go to Pakistan. I haven't talked to players and their association further in this regard," he told New Zealand media.

"But, players will be allowed to play in IPL. They will be free to make a choice between IPL and Pakistan tour," he shared. 

Meanwhile, White is confident in security for these tours and NZC is in contact with the Government. "Our delegation visited Pakistan earlier this year. We are in contact with the embassy and our government about this tour," he shared. 

Remember, the Black Caps aborted their tour to Pakistan last year just hours before the first ODI in Rawalpindi because of an undisclosed security concern.
