Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon on Wednesday arrived in Islamabad on a two-day official visit. Upon his arrival at the Nur Khan airbase, he was received by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
The visiting dignitary was also presented with a 21-gun salute.
On his sixth visit to Pakistan, President Rahmon is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers, leading businessmen and other senior officials.
The Tajik president will meet PM Nawaz and President Mamnoon Hussain. His visit is a part of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries.
The visit is of greater significance, especially in the context of the shared desire to enhance cooperation in political, economic, energy, infrastructure development for rail and road links, air connectivity, social, human resource development and cultural spheres, defence and security relations.
CASA-1000 – a project of regional energy cooperation among Tajikistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan – would be another major area of cooperation that would come under discussion.
