Suspected offender, policeman shot dead in encounter

A team of law-enforcement officers was dispatched to Thathi Kala, Bannu to arrest a proclaimed offender

BANNU: A policeman and a suspected offender lost their lives in two separate shoot-outs in an encounter in Huwaid, within the Bannu police limits on Friday. 

According to a police official, a team of law-enforcement officers (LEO) was dispatched to Thathi Kala to arrest a proclaimed offender identified as Kamal Khan and his gang members. However, as soon as the suspects saw the policemen, they opened a volley of bullets. Policeman Shahzeb died in the attack. The assailants managed to escape in the cover of fire.

The police official added the LEOs chased the accused to their hideout near Lwara Pul. Kamal was killed while his accomplices fled in the ensuing shoot-out. An AK-47 rifle and some cartridges were also recovered from the site.
