ISLAMABAD:

Proceedings were disrupted at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and all other subordinate courts in the twin cities due to the earthquake on Monday spreading panic among the litigants and others.

Judges, lawyers and litigants came out of the courtrooms reciting Quranic verses and prayers.

Cases were adjourned when the earthquake struck and everyone tried to rush out of the courtrooms.

Soon after the tremors were over, the atmosphere was filled with rumours and speculations leaving people with no other option but to inquire about their family members and friends over the phone.

The fact that the cellular services were not working added to their panic.

A lawyer, while talking to a news channel was of the view that among other things, it was a reminder for the bench and the bar to struggle for providing swift justice to the masses instead of just to a select few.
