GILGIT:

In their efforts to solve a baffling murder case, authorities exhumed the body of four-year-old Ahmad whose family believed he was killed by a woman jinn in Chilas town in G-B.

“The body was exhumed to conduct an autopsy,” Diamer DC Usman Ahmad told The Express Tribune on Tuesday.

“Samples of body parts were collected to send them to Lahore for examination,” he said, adding it would take a week for the final report to be issued.

The permission for exhumation was granted by a judicial magistrate after a request from the local police.

According to another official, a decision to conduct an autopsy at a laboratory in Lahore was taken as G-B lacked the necessary equipment.

Four-year-old Ahmad went missing over two weeks ago from Somal village of Chilas town. His mutilated body was found dumped in a nearby forest. The family neither registered a police case nor took the body for a post-mortem after a Rawalpindi-based exorcist told them the boy was killed by “supernatural forces”.

“The body was badly mutilated,” said an official present during the exhumation. It appeared the child was subjected to brutal torture which led to his death. “Both hands were chopped off and the face and thigh had deep bruises.”

G-B CM Hafeezur Rahman also took notice of the murder and asked the deputy commissioner to submit a report.
