GILGIT: A man attempting to smuggle drugs into China has been nabbed in Sost near the Pakistan-China border, officials said on Wednesday.

Mohammad Minhas, belonging to Hangu district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, was about to enter China after customs clearance at Sost, about 300 kilometres from Gilgit, with millions of rupees worth of drugs in his luggage when officials of the Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) searched him.

“The volume of heroin recovered from the man is about 1, 500 grams,” said an official Ameer Hamza. The Express Tribune learnt on Wednesday that Minhas was just a ‘commission agent’ responsible to cross over the drugs to China.
