ISLAMABAD: The city administration on Monday continued a crackdown against quackery and counterfeit drugs and arrested six people, said an official.

A special team headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdul Sattar Isani conducted raids in the rural areas and sealed eleven illegal clinics in Rawat.

The drive against quackery had started last week on the directions of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

The sealed clinics were identified as Asif Medical Clinic, Shakeela Medical Clinic, Zakir Nighat Clinic, Abdul Sattar Clinic, Eye Care Clinic, Israali Medical Clinic, Ali Clinic, Dr Rabia Asad Clinic, Rashid Dental Clinic and New Ali Medical Clinic.

All the clinics had doctors who lacked Pakistan Medical and Dental Council registration records. Similarly, the administration fined Rs 50,000 to Samina Clinic.

Similarly, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Shalimar Dr Hasan Waqar Cheema fined Rs90,000 to twelve unhygienic food outlets during inspection in F-10 Markaz.  While inspecting sanitary conditions at food outlets, he found several premises unsatisfactory and unhygienic. Some of the food outlets were operating without a valid licence and workers were unvaccinated.

The food outlets that faced the administration’s action included Ali Kabana Restaurant, Kamran Super Store, Nice Cold Corner, Kabal Aryana Store, Rehman Juice Center, and Lahori Foods.
