SHABQADAR:

An Afghan refugee was killed at a jirga in Charsadda and three others were injured following a scuffle over a football game.

Hasan Khan, an official of Mandani police station, told The Express Tribune on Wednesday the scuffle broke out between a Pakistani and an Afghan refugee. “They opened fire on each other,” the official said. “As a result, Ayub, the Afghan refugee, was killed. The deceased’s father, Ezat Khan, and his brother, Arif Khan, were injured. Arif, a Pakistani national, was also injured.” According to the official, Ayub and his family lived in a camp in the region and had convened a jirga to request their Pakistani neighbours to not play football outside their houses.

Ezat has nominated PTI tehsil naib nazim Mian Mushtaq, and two others, Miraj Khan and Fauji, in the FIR. When contacted, Mushtaq said he was at his house when the incident occurred.
