Upsurge in targeted killings

Letter September 07, 2015
A thorough investigation should be carried out to apprehend these unknown assailants. Only then will bloodshed stop

KARACHI: Since the start of the Karachi Operation, targeted killings seemed to have dropped gradually. However, the killing spree seems to have started again as two traffic constables were recently shot at, out of  which one died while the other barely survived. Before this, two traffic constables were shot dead. What could be the reason behind their brutal killings? After the first killings, measures were taken to prevent such tragic incidents, as traffic constables were provided weapons. However, that didn’t help much to provide protection from the assailants. A thorough investigation should be carried out to apprehend these unknown assailants. Only then will this bloodshed stop.
