For students: AIOU to hold workshops on gender issues

Workshops on women’s issues will be held at Allama Iqbal Open University, according to a press release on Wednesday.


The varsity will hold the workshops for students of gender and women studies department. A workshop for fourth semester students will be held from September 7 to 13.


Courses will include: women and media, women and health, women and environment and perspectives of women’s rights in Islam. A workshop for second semester students will be held from September 14 to 20.


Courses will include: research methods in gender studies, applied statistics in gender, feminist debates on gender inequalities, feminism and Islam, sociological theory-I and sociology of gender issues.


The department’s chairperson said students from Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, Gujranwala, DG Khan, Faisalabad, Multan and Muzaffarabad will attend the workshops via videoconferencing.
