In rural areas: Anti-dengue drive concludes

ISLAMABAD: A 10-day campaign to curb dengue in the rural areas of Islamabad concluded on Sunday, said a press release. District Dengue Control and Surveillance In-charge Dr Muhammad Najeeb Durrani informed that six anti-mosquito teams headed by doctors, sanitary inspectors and lady health workers visited 395 sites and carried out fumigation and anti-mosquito spraying. They also visited 104 schools and delivered lectures on preventive measures against dengue.

Besides, lady health workers distributed 5,466 pamphlets about preventive measures against dengue during the door-to-door campaign. The health teams also visited 148 tyre shops, solid waste dumps, restaurants, hotels, parks and educated the community about importance of sanitation, cleanliness and preventive measures against the disease. Durrani said the main focus of the campaign was on public health education. The sanitary staff of union councils has been directed to ensure timely cleanliness and proper solid waste disposal in rural areas, he added.
