Raid: Alleged drug peddler arrested

Workshop aimed at highlighting the importance of positive reporting on torture issues involving women and children

KALAR KAHAR: The Kalar Kahar police on Sunday arrested a notorious drug peddler and seized over 1 kilogram of hashish from his possession. On a tip-off, the Bochal Kalan police put surveillance in the Allah Mor area and intercepted Syed Noor Afghani, a resident of Miyani, and seized the contraband from him. The drug was being transported to a nearby locality for further sale. The police shifted the drug peddler to the local police station for further investigation. Meanwhile, a workshop was held for local journalists and civil society members to help create awareness and promote healthy reporting on women and children’s rights. The workshop also aimed at highlighting the importance of positive reporting on torture issues involving women and children. A large number of local journalists and civil society members participated in the workshop organised by the Bedari Network Chakwal.
