Entrance examination for admission to the Punjab Medical and Dental Colleges were held throughout the province on Sunday.
More than 47,000 students sat the test for a total of 3,500 seats. Around 18 examination centres were set up by the University of Health Sciences.
In Rawalpindi, 6,000 students took the exam for a total of 200 seats available at Rawalpindi Medical College.
Parents on the occasion said that entry test was “injustice” to students who had already scored a high percentage in their FSc exams. They demanded that the number of medical colleges should be increased.
They said that since there were very few public-sector medical colleges in the province a number of very talented students failed to get admission.
“The population of Punjab has increased in the past two decades, but the number of government medical colleges has not seen a proportionate increase,” a parent said.
