Workplace accident: Construction worker dies, two injured

LAHORE: A construction worker died and his two colleagues were injured in a workplace accident in Manawan on Saturday. The deceased worker was identified as Fayyaz, 25, a resident of Mominpura. Wajahat, 27, and Shafiq, 28, were injured in the incident. Police said a scaffold the three workers were using for support at an under construction building broke and collapsed at around 11am. Other workers were outside the building mixing cement with sand when the accident took place. On hearing the bang, they rushed to the scene and found Fayyaz caught underneath the rubble, the police said. They said one of the workers then called the police and the Rescue 1122. A Rescue team recovered Fayyaz and moved him and the two others to Services Hospital. Fayyaz died at the hospital. Doctors treating the other injured said their condition was now stable.
