‘Towards prosperity’: Notification issued for minimum wage

This is to be implemented with effect from July 1

LAHORE: The provincial government has issued a notification announcing Rs13,000 as the minimum monthly wage for industrial workers the Punjab. The Minimum Wages Board secretary issued the notification on Friday saying that wages of workers in registered industries had been raised by 8.33 per cent. This is to be implemented with effect from July 1. The notification said that the board had been raising wages each year since 2011. “This is a record,” the notification said. “The policy is a major step towards the prosperity of labourers.”
