Reducing burden: Govt allots Rs1.2 billion for medicines

At least Rs0.15 million was released to all district headquarter hospitals and four major hospitals in the province

PESHAWAR: The provincial government has increased the amount allocated for expenditure on medicines for underprivileged patients from Rs1 billion to Rs1.2 billion in the current fiscal year of 2015-16, stated a press release issued by the health department on Thursday. “The decision was taken on the directives of Chief Minister Pervez Khattak,” read the statement. “At least Rs0.15 million was released to all district headquarter hospitals and four major hospitals in the province to buy emergency medicines for the casualty ward.” According to the press release, directorate and teaching hospitals have been asked to immediately complete formalities and ensure medicines are readily available.
