LAHORE: The Lahore City District Government (CDGL) said on Wednesday that a road in the city will be named after slain home minister Col (retired) Shuja Khanzada, The Express Tribune learnt.

The recently constructed road between Jinnah Hospital and Karim Block will be renamed to pay tribune to the slain minister.

A senior official in the City District Government Lahore (CDGL) disclosed that Punjab Chief Minister had directed the district administration to propose names of roads or junctions which could be renamed after Khanzada.

The official disclosed that Jinnah Hospital to Karim Block Road had only recently been constructed and was pending inauguration by the chief minister.

He added that it was most likely that the CM would approve the proposal.

Once renamed, the road is expected to be know as “Shaheed Col Retired Shuja Khanzada Road”.

Khanzada was among at least 16 people killed in a suicide blast at his political office near Attock, about 80km west of Islamabad on Sunday.
