Official language: Joint review committee to promote Urdu

There should be uniformity in the education system

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the constitution of a joint review committee of federation and provinces in connection with implementation of Urdu as the official language and promotion and publication of provincial languages.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Jawwad S Khawaja while presiding over a 3-member bench of SC Tuesday during the course of hearing of petition filed by Kokab Iqbal advocate, remarked “lawlessness will increase by not upholding constitution.

English language gives impression of subjugation due to which we are making our coming generation mentally crippled. There should be uniformity in the education system.” The court remarked “there is already a supervisory and scrutiny committee which should be given the name of review committee and it should watch and review continuously all the programs with reference to Urdu and English that how much work has been done and how much more work is to be done.
