Kate Moss: Post retirement plans

Supermodel Kate Moss already has her post retirement plans in place. She’s set to open a school for aspiring models.

The 36-year-old has been in the modelling business sincethe 1990s. She feels posing for photographs isn’t as easy as it looks and modelling is an art form that must be taught to the youngsters, reports dailystar.co.uk.

“I think I could definitely open a modelling school. Kate’s Modelling School? Moss’ Models? Put Moss’ Models down! You need to see it (modelling) as a skill,” said Moss.

The model admits that she is amazed to see how long her career has lasted.

The 36-year-old catwalk queen has been modelling since she was 14 and admits she has no plans to retire anytime soon, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

“How long will I keep modelling? I really don’t know - I didn’t even see myself lasting as long as I have. I did my first photo shoot at 16 and I thought that was it! I just really enjoy creating images and working with creative people. I love the whole process. So, for as long as I enjoy it, I’ll still do it. And as long as I’m still getting booked!” she told a magazine.

Moss believes one of the reasons she has lasted so long is her determination to assist photographers in getting the right shot, even when it can be a “humiliating” experience.

“I’ve watched ‘Britain’s Next Top Model’ and things like that. The thing is, it takes a lot of learning to do this job. In ‘BNTM’, they put the contestants through the torture and torment of what a modelling career can be like,” she said.

“And it honestly can be really humiliating. I mean I’ve done crazy things - I’ve been in a bikini in minus -30 degrees temperatures and you have to keep going until you get the shot. But that’s me - I will always keep going until I get the shot,” she added.

While Moss has her future plans set even when she isn’t sure she’d be leaving modelling anytime soon, not everyone in the fashion world seems to be as organised. On the other hand, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld announced she will soon step down from the post she assumed for almost a decade. Roitfeld, who is set to resign in early February, is uncertain what she will do next. “I have no plan at all,” New York Times quoted her saying.

“I’m not announcing that I am leaving for a new job with a magazine or as a consultant for a large luxury brand. For the moment, I am just taking  one step at a time,” she told Women’s Wear Daily.

Despite Roitfeld’s statements, rumours are rife that the artiste is teaming up with Tom Ford, who himself has denied all reports suggesting Roitfeld’s joint venture with him. “Carine and I have no plans to work together at the moment, it is nothing that we have discussed,” he said.

Pakistan’s next top model

Producers Shoaib and Sadya Khan, who have been creating reality shows for ATV, have decided to step up to the challenge of emulating Tyra Banks’ show “America’s Next Top Model” in Pakistan. The Pakistani version will follow the format of the international programme, which also has spin-offs in the UK, Australia and Canada. There will be auditions from which 12 girls will be selected by a jury comprising of model Natasha Hussain, fashion photographer Shani of the Guddu and Shani duo, and Niche magazine’s chief editor Pashmina Malik. The contestants will participate in a round of activities such as photo and fashion editorial shoots, ramp walks, make-up and personal grooming from designers.
