Police and doctors confirm that the victim was sexually assaulted

KARACHI: A 19-year-old man, who allegedly dumped the body of a seven-year-old girl in the bushes after sexually assaulting her, was taken into custody on Sunday.

Abid Hussain, son of Nazeer Hussain, was arrested by the Sachal police investigation wing from his residence. He is accused to have killed a minor girl after subjecting her to rape.

Police and doctors confirmed that the girl was subjected to rape before being dumped in the bushes. The body bore marks of torture and was found near her residence in a ditch on Friday. The girl, A*, went missing after she went out of her house, situated in Abdullah Shah Ghazi Goth, on Thursday.

The rape and murder case was registered at the Sachal police station. The police believed that the culprit belonged to the same area and had started interrogating the family, relatives and neighbours. "We spent day and night to trace the culprit and finally after questioning and detaining a number of people, we traced him," explained DSP Khalid Khan while talking to The Express Tribune.

The officer explained that the accused knew the girl and took her with him on his motorcycle and committed the crimes. "After subjecting her to rape, he tortured her to death as he feared the girl will tell her family about the incident," said the officer, quoting the suspect. He added that the accused has confessed to the crimes and will be produced before the court on Monday (today).
