Parts of Karachi plunge into darkness as city receives first monsoon rain

K-Electric says 117 feeders affected, teams working to restore power

KARACHI: As Karachi received its first spell of monsoon rain on Tuesday night, over 100 of K-Electric's feeders were affected, resulting in power outages in a number of areas across the city, Express News reported.

According to K-Electric, the power supply company in Karachi, 117 feeders were affected.

While the rain turned the weather pleasant as many areas including Gulshane-Iqbal, Malir, Orangi Town, Saddar, Garden, Korangi and DHA received heavy rain, power breakdowns were also reported from a number of localities. These include Federal B Area, PIB Colony, Soldier Bazaar, Saddar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Liaquatabad, Garden, New Karachi, Korangi, Landhi, Shah Faisal, Malir, Defence and Clifton, among others.

Meanwhile, according to the MET department, more rains are expected in Karachi July 24 onwards.
