QUETTA: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan has handed over cheques of recovered amount to victims of the Arsalan Town Housing Scheme (phase IV-V) fraud.

Accused Nasir Haider had launched a fake housing society ‘Arsalan Town Housing Scheme’ (phase IV-V) in the Kach Mor area of Quetta promising plots.

He disappeared from the scene after receiving complete installments of the plots from an unsuspecting public.

Director General NAB Balochistan, Major (retd) Tariq Mehmood Malik distributed cheques among the affectees after recovering the amount from Nasir Haider.

Complainants namely Mushtaq Ahmed Qureshi, Saleemullah Qureshi, Rafiq Ahmed, Mohammad Haneef Siddique and Anees Ali Siddique had previously lodged complaints with NAB Balochistan. During the probe into the case, NAB investigation team learnt that Nasir Haider, without obtaining NOC from Cantonment and Quetta Development Authority (QDA), had launched a fake housing scheme in Kach Mor.

People invested with the owner of the housing scheme who later did not develop the said scheme. He was also reluctant to pay back the amount received to the affectees by using delaying tactics.

NAB after completing the investigation, recovered the looted amount from Nasir and handed it back to the affectees.

Director General NAB Balochistan Major (retd) Tariq Mehmood Malik underlined the need of making the existing Regulatory Mechanism more effective. This was essential in order to avoid the public being cheated by the corrupt elements through fake housing schemes.
