QUETTA: The authorities on Monday registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Zamuran Marri alias Miran Marri and 11 others for the execution-style killing of 22 bus passengers in Mastung district.

The case has been registered on behalf of the government under sections 302, 324, 171, 365, 427 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and anti-terrorism acts. The FIR alluded to a local newspaper report in which the banned United Baloch Army (UBA) claimed responsibility for the carnage.

The case has been registered against Zamuran Marri, Abdul Nabi Bangulzai, Sher Alam Marri, Sarfraz Bangulzai, Qadir Marri, Shah Baksh, Nisar, Mohammed Hussain among others.

At least 25 passengers were kidnapped from two Quetta-Karachi bound passenger coaches near Kadocha area. The bodies of 19 passengers were recovered from a site while three other injured passengers died of their wounds later.

On Monday, lawyers boycotted the court proceedings in Balochistan to register their protest against the Mastung carnage.

The boycott was called by the Balochistan Bar Association (BBA) and supported by the Balochistan High Court Bar Association and other lawyers’ associations.

The lawyers wore black arm-bands and hoisted a black flag outside all bar rooms in the province.

Security forces have launched a search operation in the area and have so far reportedly killed seven suspected militants.

APC today

The All Parties Conference (APC) planned to deliberate upon the law and order situation in the wake of Mastung massacre will be held on Tuesday (today). Prime Minister Nawaz Sharief and Army Chief General Raheel Sharief are expected at the APC.

The provincial government has formally invited all the political parties to attend the APC. Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch reached Quetta on Monday evening after his visit to Islamabad where he attended an important meeting. He also extended invitation to PM and other leaders to participate in the June 2 APC.

CM Baloch had announced the APC after telephonic conversation with premier following the Mastung carnage. The provincial coalition partners and the opposition leaders were also taken on board in this regard.
