ISLAMABAD:

A top Senate panel on Friday proposed higher perks and privileges for lawmakers and entitling them to what parliamentarians were already receiving in other parts of the globe.

Such incentives, according to Senate Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges, would help to enhance the functioning and performance of the standing committees, parliament and government.

“Increasing salaries and allowances of the members is not enough,” said the committee chairman MNA Chaudhry Asadur Rehman in a meeting held at the Parliament Lodges on Friday.

He added that there is need for providing official services, for instance office spaces, staff and research facilities to enhance the capacity of the standing committees and eventually the parliament.

Brar | 9 years ago | Reply For revising the pay scales of Government employees a pay commission is constituted which takes two to three years to present its report and then the Govt takes another year or half to implement the same but in case of poor parlimentarians the pay and allowances are doubled or even more with in a day. They say they are in politics to serve the people where as they serve their families . relatives and near and dear ones. Shame on all these politicians.
