The Asia Study Group organised a musical evening featuring Khalid Tirmizi and his group of musicians at the Serena Hotel on Saturday evening which was attended by classical music enthusiasts. The night featured famous ghazals, geets and vintage filmi songs as it was titled “A Journey Through Time”
The audience was taken down the memory lane of Indian and Pakistani film/music industries. Apart from a mostly Pakistani crowd, the Swedish ambassador was also present at the event.
The band sang hits such as “Yaad kia dil ne kahaan ho tum” and Mohammad Rafi’s “Tera pyaar nahi bhoolay”. Band members included keyboardist Anees Rahman who belongs to a family of musicians, Hasnain Ghulam Raza, teacher of the vocalist, Tirmizi. Bakir Multani was on the dholak.
“The music is poetic and the compositions are enchanting,” said Yasser Noman, an organiser at the Asia Study Group.
